Nursing Home

Sunday

A day off visiting today. Eldest Sister was on duty and had come with her youngest two kids plus Youngest Son’s Girlfriend.

In spite of my view yesterday that Mum seemed to be waking up she remained asleep the entire time they were with her and only stirred to adjust her blanket. They amused themselves by watching Lily wandering around in the grounds of The Home looking for a way to escape.

The day wasn’t entirely stress-free. I cooked lunch using a recipe from one of Joe Wicks’ books. The recipe is for one person. I’d only ever cooked it for two. Somehow cooking for six was beyond me. None of our pans were big enough and in my fluster I forgot the garlic bread.

Nothing was left over at the end of the meal so it looked like I got away with it. Just.

Author’s Note

My Mum is in a nursing home in a small village in the Thames Valley. The photo is not of the home. I used an AI image generator to give the reader some idea of the home she’s in.

All, some or maybe even none (you’ll never know!) of the names have been changed to protect privacy and hide real identities. If you think you recognise someone then let me know and I’ll edit the post or remove it entirely
