Sunday
Mum was awake enough to know I was there with her today, awake enough to refuse a drink and awake enough to nod her head almost imperceptibly when I asked if she wanted me to read but not awake enough to be able to speak.
Uncommunicative, uncomfortable and unhappy is a fairly typical state to find Mum is when she’s coming out of a Sleepy phase.
Sean said she’d been sleepy all day but in spite of that he’d been able to get her to eat most of her breakfast and all of her supper. Once she’d had her soup she refused the rest of her Sunday Lunch though.
She lasted half a chapter before becoming completely unresponsive. Another lap round Father Okoli’s Cotswold parish had been completed.

Author’s Note
My Mum is in a nursing home in a small village in the Thames Valley. The photo is not of the home. I used an AI image generator to give the reader some idea of the home she’s in.
All, some or maybe even none (you’ll never know!) of the names have been changed to protect privacy and hide real identities. If you think you recognise someone then let me know and I’ll edit the post or remove it entirely
