Saturday
My brother and his wife did The Visit today. Here’s what he said…
Mum’s still in the sleeping phase. She woke up when we said hello and gave a smile when we spoke about the boys. Most of what she said was difficult to understand apart from giving one of her pillows a plump. Very quickly back to sleep after that.
Mum woke up a couple of times before we left. The first time to ask us to stay a bit longer, which we did. All in all she looked far more frail than the last time we saw her. To be expected I suppose. She was slipping off to sleep when we left.
Sometimes, when Mum’s had a visit from another family member early in the day, I’ll go and see her later on in the evening. I didn’t today. To be honest, I just couldn’t face it.
Author’s Note
My Mum is in a nursing home in a small village in the Thames Valley. The photo is not of the home. I used an AI image generator to give the reader some idea of the home she’s in.
All, some or maybe even none (you’ll never know!) of the names have been changed to protect privacy and hide real identities. If you think you recognise someone then let me know and I’ll edit the post or remove it entirely
