Sunday
Eldest Sister stepped up with Youngest Son to visit Mum today. After the frenetic day we’d had yesterday it was a much needed restful day for us.
I’d already warned her about the local road closures so their journey wasn’t disrupted, we completed the grocery shopping that we failed on yesterday, everything went to plan in the kitchen and The Dog was as relaxed about visitors coming in her home as she’s ever been. All good.
Mum was still sleepy. She didn’t refuse a drink when it was offered but didn’t say anything at all while they were with her. She only showed signs of awareness that they were siting next to her talking when they told her they were leaving.
It’s been quite a while since Eldest Sister has had a fruitless visit and I always feel a little guilt when she does given that it’s two hours each way for her. But then her options are limited and she can’t come just when she fancies or when it fits in with Mum’s Sleepy/Active schedule. I get the feeling that her making time to make the journey is as much about giving me a break as anything and that’s very much appreciated.
Author’s Note
My Mum is in a nursing home in a small village in the Thames Valley. The photo is not of the home. I used an AI image generator to give the reader some idea of the home she’s in.
All, some or maybe even none (you’ll never know!) of the names have been changed to protect privacy and hide real identities. If you think you recognise someone then let me know and I’ll edit the post or remove it entirely
