Thursday
Got to The Home early to see how Mum was coping with being moved. She was now settled in Room 36. She was moved last night. Not that she knew much about it.
She was sound asleep, refusing lunch, refusing drinks all as per. But all her stuff is now organised and I gathered the bits that got missed last night. Maintenance had finished setting the telly up but there was no plug for her Alexa yet. The room is much nicer though. Everything is newer and it’s brighter and fresher. The view is better too (even though Mum was currently facing the corridor).
I told Juliette that I’d told Mum she was in her old room and that it might look different because it’s been redecorated. I also learned that the bug going round the home is “Tummy Flu” and that’s why a couple of the residents were in isolation.
Author’s Note
My Mum is in a nursing home in a small village in the Thames Valley. The photo is not of the home. I used an AI image generator to give the reader some idea of the home she’s in.
All, some or maybe even none (you’ll never know!) of the names have been changed to protect privacy and hide real identities. If you think you recognise someone then let me know and I’ll edit the post or remove it entirely
