Sometimes bad. Mostly British English

Spelling, usage and grammar will be modern-ish British. So, it’s colour instead of color, autumn instead of fall and aluminium because aluminum is just illogical, inconsistent and wrong. I also say titbit instead of tidbit because it recognises the origin of a word that means “small piece”. A country that insists on using a tediously twee euphemism like tidbit while condoning exploitation of women on an industrial scale in its porn business is holier than thou turned up to 11.

Speaking of confusing references to human anatomical features, if I say ass I’m referring to a small equine animal of the type that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on (if you believe that sort of thing). If I want to talk about a person’s backside then I will say arse and it should be pronounced accordingly. Hence, if you disagree with me I will say that you’re an arse-hole, never an ass-hole. And I won’t ever write or say a-hole because that’s simply pathetic.

It’s highly unlikely that the situation will ever crop up but, for the sake of completeness, I won’t ever use, make or even refer to a Fanny-Pack. The word fanny does appear in British English and it is used to identify a part of the human below-the-belt anatomy but it’s at the front, not the back, and only women have them. If you have a Fanny-Pack, have a little think about that.

I swear. A lot. I swear because I care. It’s meant to provide emphasis in a manner in accordance with current usage. It’s not meant to offend but if it does that’s because offence is only ever taken, never caused. Your problem then. Not mine.
