Thursday
A bit of a gentler start to the day than we had yesterday. The Dog had been severely rattled by Lesley’s early and rushed departure to take her dad to the optician. She sensed the stress, knew something was wrong and was awkward right up to the point that Lesley got back.
No such rush today.
I woke up wondering whether it was going to be worth visiting Mum today. Her schedule said that she was due to be asleep all day but in spite of her wild hallucinations yesterday, she hadn’t shown any sign of the physical hyperactivity that usually signals an imminent Sleepy phase. And she wasn’t going to get any more compos mentis than she’d been while I was with her without going through a Sleepy phase first.
Asleep or not, she wasn’t going to know I was there and I gave the visit a miss.
Author’s Note
My Mum is in a nursing home in a small village in the Thames Valley. The photo is not of the home. I used an AI image generator to give the reader some idea of the home she’s in.
All, some or maybe even none (you’ll never know!) of the names have been changed to protect privacy and hide real identities. If you think you recognise someone then let me know and I’ll edit the post or remove it entirely
