Sunday

Eldest Sister did the visit to Mum today with her two youngest. With Lesley doing another long visit to her dad, that left me and The Dog to fend for ourselves at home.

Mum remained asleep for the majority of the visit. She did wake briefly. Long enough to be asked if she was comfortable. Long enough to answer with a resounding “NO!”

Once that had been remedied, Mum was offered a drink but the tea was too hot for her to drink.

Mum then went back to sleep and that was that. That was their visit. At least they got their lunch here so they didn’t have to turn round and go straight back home.

Lesley’s day was difficult too. Dad seemed to have been happy enough but he complained of pain in his back again and went to bed really early again.

We’d been warned about the back pain by his palliative care team. It was a symptom of his mesothelioma that was expected. To have had it several days in a row has to be a sign of something.

Author’s Note

My Mum is in a nursing home in a small village in the Thames Valley. The photo is not of the home. I used an AI image generator to give the reader some idea of the home she’s in.

All, some or maybe even none (you’ll never know!) of the names have been changed to protect privacy and hide real identities. If you think you recognise someone then let me know and I’ll edit the post or remove it entirely
