NHS Hospital

Monday

Brother did the visit today with his family.

Mum’s vicar was still with Mum when they arrived. She said Mum had been chatty and that they’d prayed together.

Unfortunately, Mum had just gone to sleep and remained sound the entire duration of the visit. He did get a good update on how Mum was doing from the family of the lady in the next bed though. How they didn’t think she’d eaten since I was last there.

They are a lovely family. Very caring and very concerned about Mum and the state she’s in. Mrs K had been nattering away to me all the time I had been there yesterday. My Turkish isn’t great at the best of times but Mrs K hasn’t got any teeth and even her son struggled to translate what she was saying at times.

There had been no news on the CT scan but I was confident that I’d be able to find someone to speak to on Tuesday. I noted that while it felt like I hadn’t spoken to the any doctor more than once they all seemed to have a complete grasp of Mum’s condition, treatment and care plan. The handovers must be phenomenal. In fact, when there was news to provide, I didn’t even need to search for them. They would appear by my side like the shopkeeper in Mr Benn. Uncanny.

Author’s Note

My Mum is in a nursing home in a small village in the Thames Valley. The photo is not of the home. I used an AI image generator to give the reader some idea of the home she’s in.

All, some or maybe even none (you’ll never know!) of the names have been changed to protect privacy and hide real identities. If you think you recognise someone then let me know and I’ll edit the post or remove it entirely
